more widespread. Interactives are now found in places and contexts almost unheard
of just a few years ago. Will the fortunes of the interactive keep climbing, or
is it past its zenith? Are people going 'interactive' for the right reasons? How
does interactivity relate to more traditional interpretation - are they friends
or adversaries?
Freelancing, The Taxman and the Law - or how to have fun, stay out of Jail,
and Save Money working for yourself
Speaker: Richard Ellam
Convenor: Natalie Ford
Freelance work can be a liberating experience, but when you work for yourself
you are responsible for all those boring things like income tax, insurance and
health and safety that your employer used to take care of. If you get them wrong
mistakes can be expensive, time consuming to put right, and if you get it really
badly wrong you could end up doing time. Lots of practical help and pointers to
where you can get further information on the topics covered, which will include:
When is a Freelance not a Freelance?, Tax, NI (and VAT), Insurance, Data Protection,
and Health and Safety.

simple experiments and ideas that attract passers by. There will also be a chance
to see activities taken out by others including Techniquest and some travelling
puzzles set up by Richard Ellam.

Andrew Shoben founded Greyworld in Paris, in 1993. Moving to London in 1995, their
