BIG Event 2026 National STEM Learning Centre, York, UK We are thrilled to announce that BIG will be heading to the fantastic National STEM Learning Centre for the BIG Event in 2026. We'll have 2 and a half days of workshops, sessions, discussion and keynotes, as well as plenty of time for networking throughout the event!
What is the BIG Event? The BIG Event is a three day get-together every summer to share skills and experiences, develop professional links and keep up-to-date with the STEM engagement field. This is the place to hone your skills and recharge your professional batteries, pick up great ideas and show off your talents to peers.
It provides an unmissable opportunity to squeeze the skills and ideas out of all the STEM engagement people you can in a short space of time.
The content for the BIG Event is created by the members. And the people who say they get the most out of it are the people who contribute the content. This will be a hybrid BIG Event. As many sessions as possible will be delivered as hybrid events, so if you can't get to London in-person, you can still join us online. REGISTRATION Your registration to the BIG Event entitles you to a free 12-month membership to BIG, with all its benefits. In 2026 we are introducing an Individual rate and an Organisational rate. If you are paying for your registration personally, please choose the Individual rate. If your employer is paying for your registration, we would ask that if possible you pay the organisational rate. We are also introducing a Pay-It-Forward scheme, with a voluntary additional ticket you can choose to add to your registration, which will allow us to provide a small number of free day passes for those who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend. Travel and accommodation is not included in any of the conference rates, however, there will be first come, first served accommodation available the BIG Event location. More information to come. *Prices are subject to change before 29th January. **Early Bird requires full payment on or before 6th April, 2026. If full payment isn't received by 5th May, your registration will be honoured at the Full Price until 4th May, 2025. After this point, if we still haven't received full payment, your registration will be cancelled. Tips to save money 1. Book the BIG Event Early! Booking opens 29th January 2026 and the Early Bird gets the discount, so plan ahead and book early. 2. Save this date in your diary - 22 April 2026. This is 12 weeks before the BIG Event and is about the time that Advance train fares are available. These are generally cheaper than waiting closer to the time to book your train travel. Your pocketbook will thank you. 3. Book accommodation early. Like train travel, the sooner you can book your accommodation, the cheaper it will be. We will have a limited amount of guaranteed accomodation on site (more about that soon!). 4. Get your employer to pay for your ticket. If your employer needs more convincing to pay for you to attend BIG... 6. Apply for a Bursary. The BIG Event Bursary will cover your ticket, BIG Membership, accommodation, travel and any other reasonable expenses. This will open soon. If payment is not received by the day of the event, your attendance cannot be honoured at the event. We can, by prior arrangement only, honour your attendance at the event if an official purchase order number has been generated and is being processed by your organisation’s finance department.
