    The University of Roehampton is seeking a Research Impact Officer with specific focus on collaborating with STEM-related industries and organisations. Research Impact Officers help ensure that our research meaningfully benefits society, industry, and policy in the UK and around the world. This role sits with the Research Development team within our Research Office. The Research Development team works closely with the senior executive team, researchers, academic departments, and professional services to jointly ensure we meet our research ambitions.

    2.    The Role

     

    Winchester Science Centre is looking for a motivated, innovative and inspiring entrepreneurial leader to join our team in the role of Head of STEM Partnerships. The post-holder will be the driving force to scope, develop and maintain relationships for our outwardly facing STEM engagement programme “STEM NOW” and our Innovation Team. The post-holder will manage existing contracts, seek out new opportunities, and strive to increase the national impact and business portfolio of Winchester Science Centre and STEM NOW. The role involves leading, motivating and inspiring two small, integrated teams. The post-holder will lead the teams to build effective and lasting relationships with the STEM industry and Universities to Spark Curiosity in STEM and ultimately make a positive impact on the UK’s STEM skills gap.

     

    The Head of STEM Partnerships will lead the STEM NOW team to deliver current projects, such as managing the Central South STEM Ambassador Hub, and scope and develop new opportunities for Winchester Science Centre to diversify our external offer. They will lead the Innovation Team to develop strategic relationships with Universities and the STEM industry to diversify programme delivery and contribute towards the financial sustainability of the charity.

     

    The Head of STEM Partnerships will also work closely with the Fundraising team, to ensure partners are approached strategically and relationships are managed effectively. This includes working with them to establish partnership or sponsorship agreements to seek essential funding that will enable STEM Now and the Innovation Team to deliver outstanding STEM engagement.

    Flexibility is essential as Winchester Science Centre relies on a small team of dedicated individuals working closely together to support and develop the charity, so occasional additional support duties will be required in other areas of its business.

     

    3.    Job Description

     

    ·         To take a lead on identifying opportunities to support the organisation’s ambitious growth plans.

    ·         To analyse and evaluate STEM activity delivery data to ensure KPI’s/targets are met.

    ·         To coordinate the charity’s outwardly facing charitable trading activities.

    ·         To be the driving force to increase the impact of WSC’s external offer, by seeking new opportunities for the organisation and maintaining key relationships and contracts.

    • Catalyst Science Discovery Centre (a registered charity) is the only science discovery centre in the UK with chemistry and STEM as its main theme. It has an extensive educational programme for schools and the general public, and offers activities for a wide range of ages from infants up to adult learners. 

      This is an exciting opportunity to join the team, working with the Education Manager to help deliver and develop Catalyst’s educational activities to schools, groups and the general public and to assist with administration within the education department. You will have the responsibility for the development of material for use with school students at KS4 (and occasionally above).

    • Catalyst Science Discovery Centre in Widnes, Cheshire is looking to appoint a suitably qualified Science Presenter to deliver the award winning Education Programme to families and groups visiting the Science Centre at the weekends. The role will involve delivering hands-on science workshops and shows, performing scientific and chemical demonstrations to the public and enthusing children and adults about science.     BIA is the award-winning trade association for bioscience in the UK. The position of Communications Executive is a key role in the organisation, representing an innovative sector seen as key to the future success of the UK in delivering new treatments for patients and economic growth.

    The primary purpose of the Communications Executive role is to support and implement the BIA’s communications plan and activity, including social media activity, content management of the BIA website, managing the blog schedule, managing the weekly publication of Newscast, providing input to BIA publications and projects and supporting BIA events and conferences through communications support.     The Cheltenham Science Festival welcomes around 60,000 visitors over a 6-day period in June every year. We are looking for a full-time Schools and Family Programme Manager with a track record of developing events and experiences for children and young people and an enthusiasm for creating and seeking out new formats and techniques to engage these audiences with science.
