The Babraham Institute is a world-class academic research institution, situated at the heart of the Babraham Research Campus, near Cambridge.  The Institute undertakes research into understanding the biology of how our bodies work, including what changes as we age and during disease. Research at the Institute has three cross-cutting areas of focus, namely Epigenetics, Signalling and Lymphocyte Signalling and Development, and each area is supported by a strategic award from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), with additional funding from research councils, the EU and charities.

The Institute is a fully open and transparent research organisation, where public engagement is embedded throughout our research ethos. Through a world-class, varied and dynamic public engagement programme, we maximise the impact of our science by advancing understanding, supporting innovation and addressing key societal issues. Our programme aims to build public confidence, trust, and value and dialogue between scientific research and groups within society. We aim to inspire the public and highlight the role that our research, and fundamental bioscience research in general, has in addressing societal challenges.

We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic team player, with strong communication and relationship building skills for the role of ‘Public Engagement Officer’. This post is integral to the Institute’s Public Engagement Team, and will work with Institute staff and students to fulfil our mission to inform and converse with adult and community audiences. The post will support Institute researchers to interact with audiences to share their research, their findings and their expertise. Implementing a collaborative programme of activities such as Institute visits, interactive talks, exhibitions and festivals.
