The University of Roehampton is seeking a Research Impact Officer with specific focus on collaborating with STEM-related industries and organisations. Research Impact Officers help ensure that our research meaningfully benefits society, industry, and policy in the UK and around the world. This role sits with the Research Development team within our Research Office. The Research Development team works closely with the senior executive team, researchers, academic departments, and professional services to jointly ensure we meet our research ambitions.
The Research Impact Officer will work closely with researchers and Research Office colleagues to identify potential external partners or beneficiaries in the life sciences and related industries in particular, identify opportunities for knowledge exchange or impact, enhance and maximise outcomes, and develop robust, creative strategies for evaluation and evidencing impact arising from research. This is an exciting and strategically important role that will see you support the University’s high-profile impact case studies for REF 2021 and beyond, and the ongoing delivery of our impact and knowledge exchange agendas.
About you:
- You have a strong interest in and understanding of how to develop and implement impact and knowledge exchange activity
- You have a sound understanding of the research and impact landscape in the UK, including an understanding of how impact will be measured in REF 2021
- You have experience in measuring, evaluating, and evidencing impact
- You may have experience in facilitating commercial exploitation of scientific research
- You have expertise in relationship-building and collaboration between organisations, preferably in STEM-related industries
- You have outstanding written and oral communication skills, and may have experience in science communication
- You have an excellent eye for detail in all forms of communication
