Interpretation Manager - Dundee Science Centre

08 Mar 2019 1:34 PM | Anonymous

Salary Range: £22,000 - £28,000 (depending on experience)

Full Time - for a fixed term of 2.5 years (potential to extend at end of fixed term period; subject to funding and requirements of organisation)

Dundee Science Centre is currently looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our team to play a key role as Interpretation Manager during an exciting period of transformation at Dundee Science Centre (DSC) through the delivery of our £2Million CONNECT project.

CONNECT will transform Dundee Science Centre into an inspiring community hub and lifelong learning resource that brings people together and builds capacity within the region.

Based on our extensive experience of working with diverse communities, we believe science centres of the future can and should be accessible to currently 'hard to reach' audiences and should feel welcoming, safe and accessible for people of all backgrounds.

To ensure the new interactive exhibits, facilities and learning programmes we create through CONNECT are relevant and accessible to our diverse community, we are embarking on an innovative journey of co-creation where we will listen, understand and respond to the needs of our intended audiences.

As the Interpretation Manager you will be responsible for creating and implementing the interpretation strategy, working with the project team, architects and contractors to ensure that the content and interpretation created are engaging and connect with our audiences.  You will play a key role within the day to day management and coordination of the project.

We are looking for someone with experience of creating interpretative elements for science centres, museums, community or cultural projects, and with knowledge of audience research and its application.

You will also have excellent communication skills, experience of managing a multi-disciplinary team and the ability to deliver projects on time and to budget.

You will work flexibly within the Dundee Science Centre team, with a working week of 37.5 hours per week; any 5 days of 7, with occasional weekend and evening work a requirement, in addition to occasional travel.
