The International Centre for Life is a thriving science hub in the heart of Newcastle. Its purpose is to inspire everyone to explore and enjoy science and to provide an environment in which life enhancing research and medical treatments can flourish. Life is home to NHS clinics as well as Newcastle University's Biomedicine research facilities. The award-winning Life Science Centre lies at the heart of this unique development. It aspires to be most accessible and inclusive visitor attraction in the UK and has an international reputation for its work in sensory engagement.
We are looking for project assistants to join our busy schools and community engagement team to deliver hands-on STEM workshops to adults, families, community groups and schools as part of our outreach programme. You will help create a welcoming experience for learners, excel at making activities engaging, and be capable of adapting your approach to suit a range of audiences.
An interest in STEM and a willingness to learn is important, along with a positive and adaptable approach. You will be organised, approachable and will be able to work both independently and as part of a team in a public facing role. Being able to communicate clearly and confidently is essential.
You will also contribute to the development of new activities and take part in ongoing training to build your skills. Experience in an educational or informal learning setting would be helpful but is not essential, and we welcome applications from those who are keen to develop their skills in delivering activities or presentations.
A full UK driving licence is essential for the role.
Life is a welcoming and friendly place to work. We offer you a range of benefits including access to wellbeing initiatives, an Employee Assistance Programme and discounted car-parking in the centre of Newcastle.
The successful applicant will be subject to a DBS check. Details of our DBS policy are available on request. For further information regarding this post, please refer to the job description and person specification on our website.
To apply for this vacancy, please complete our brief online application form and attach you CV which can be accessed from our website at https://www.life.org.uk/join-the-team/ by 28 June 2026.
