Lead Maker
Salary: CIRA £30,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week) includes occasional evening and regular weekend working.
The International Centre for Life is a thriving science hub in the heart of Newcastle. Life is home to NHS clinics as well as scientists and researchers from Newcastle University. Life Science Centre is at the heart of this ‘circle of science’ and aspires to be most accessible and inclusive visitor attraction in the UK. It has an international reputation for its work in sensory engagement.
We are looking for a creative and hands-on Lead Maker to join our Science Engagement team, someone who shares our passion for inspiring people with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
In this role, you will lead and manage The Making Studios, designing and delivering imaginative activities that spark curiosity and creativity in young people and families. You will be a confident maker, with a deep understanding of materials and mechanisms, and a genuine delight in clever design.
You will bring a positive, customer-focused approach to a busy public space, ensuring every visitor feels welcome and celebrated. You will be an experienced facilitator who thrives on reflection and continuous improvement, with a keen eye for detail and a drive to deliver high-quality experiences.
