Explorer Dome South East is recruiting

We’re looking to recruit a new presenter and science communicator in London!

Explorer Dome is a science outreach company that delivers hands-on science planetarium shows in schools across the UK.

Our brilliant presenters are at the heart of everything we do at Explorer Dome. When schools book a visit from us, they expect to receive the best quality science shows from presenters who are knowledgeable, highly trained, passionate about science education and most importantly, fun!

We pay our presenters £100 per day (plus extra for long days). Training sessions (c.2-3 initially) are also paid at £60 per day, plus any extras.

We are looking for someone to join our team who:

    • Is based in London.
    • Has a genuine enthusiasm for science and communicating science. You don't need to have a science degree, but you do need to be able to answer children's science questions (everything from "what is a black hole?" to "how does friction actually work?" and "are you a scientist!?") with accuracy, confidence, and in an easy to understand way.
    • Has ideally two free days per week – bookings will be variable (1-2 per week on average), Monday - Friday.
    • Days typically start in school at 8am. You will need to be OK with an early start, as schools may be anywhere within the M25. A full day in school can sometimes finish after 3pm.
    • Holds a full UK driving license.
    • Available to work from the start of September 2021.

If you’re interested, please send a full CV and covering letter (of no more than one side of A4) to: alex@explorerdome.co.uk - telling us a bit about yourself and why you’d like to work with us.

It would be great to hear about your background and experience in science, outreach, working with children, any creative input you’ve had in previous jobs – as well as anything else you’d like to tell us! We look forward to hearing from you.

    Closing Date: 30 July 2021
