The Marketing and Communications team delivers incredible, modern, multi-channel marcomms strategies that engage audiences through captivating stories, and develops cohesive and resilient brand identity, to position CPI as the go-to enabler of innovation that creates a healthier and more sustainable world.

The Content Officer role is a unique opportunity to work on science and culture content projects for both external and internal communications. Reporting to our Digital Content Editor and collaborating with 13 people across the Marketing and Communications team, you will play a significant role in telling stories about CPI’s people and science through digital channels.

Expect to be involved in creating explainer videos, social media posts, blogs, carousel graphics, and videos on healthcare and sustainability innovations.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

Interviewing scientists, technicians, and innovation enablers at CPI

Writing creative science and culture content for CPI’s social media channels, blog, website, newsletters, and intranet

Contributing to the planning, development, posting, and monitoring of social media content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube

Contributing to the production of engaging science videos

The person we are seeking

We’re looking for a creative storyteller with the ability to convey complex scientific projects and life at CPI through engaging and accessible written copy, graphics, and video.

You will be up to date with social media trends on Instagram and TikTok and have science communication and social media experience from working in a similar role. Genuine interest in science, innovation and equality, diversity, and inclusion is a must.

The ideal candidate will be educated to Degree level in a media, marketing or scientific discipline, or equivalent education/​experience. You need to write with perfect grammar, edit with attention to detail and have a creative eye for design.

IOI Lead for Communications and Events– Ineos-Oxford Institute

The Ineos Oxford Institute for Antimicrobial Research (IOI) is an exciting initiative creating major new opportunities for science and advances in human health, now aims to recruit a Lead for Communications and Events to head up communications, outreach and engagement activities to drive dissemination, stakeholder engagement and maximise the impact of the Institute. The scope of the role will include designing and delivering the IOI communications strategy through tailored communications, events and by engaging and leveraging the IOI stakeholder network. The successful candidate will be a key member of the IOI team and will directly contribute to the expansion and strengthening of our objectives and outputs, consistent with the long-term success of the Institute.

Our interdisciplinary research programme involves national and international collaborators. We are a vibrant, enthusiastic, innovative and strategic enterprise with an internationally leading position to make a real difference in combatting antimicrobial resistance globally and changing international policy.  We contribute significantly to basic knowledge of antimicrobial resistance and apply research methods to identify new antibiotics and explore new potential antimicrobial agents. At the heart of our approach is a deep commitment to the training and career development of our staff and students.

The successful applicant will be pivotal in designing and implementing the IOI communications strategy and responsible for planning high level events aimed at different stakeholders across academia, public sector, industry and policy. They will have previous experience of a senior science communications role in a complex organisation and an ability to assimilate complex information quickly and make it accessible to a wider audience through a variety of communications channels. The successful candidate will be key is ensuring that the mission and impact of the IOI are disseminated widely and effectively so an understanding of antimicrobial resistance landscape will be highly beneficial. Excellent oral communication skills, with the ability to inspire the confidence of senior colleagues and of the most junior team members are also essential.

This is a fixed term, full time position and is available immediately.

Engagement Officer, Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement

 

At Jodrell Bank we are looking to recruit a full time Engagement Officer to join our team, to engage visitors with the science and heritage of this internationally significant site. This is essentially a public-facing role which will involve presenting education sessions to school groups (aged 3 to 18) , delivering family shows, talks and activities during school holidays and contributing to the development and delivery of our community and outreach programmes. It will also include elements of organising and supporting other activities in the Centre such as festivals and other events. Ideal candidates should be knowledgeable and passionate about astronomy, with the ability to instil that passion in others.

 

Jodrell Bank Centre for Engagement is one of The University of Manchester’s cultural institutions, offering our visitors the opportunity of engaging with the science, heritage and culture of Jodrell Bank through a year-round visitor experience via our exhibitions, grounds, events and festivals. Catalyst Science Discovery Centre and Museum is looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic Science Presenter to deliver interactive shows and hands-on workshops to families and groups visiting the centre at the weekends. The role will involve performing demonstrations to the public and enthusing everyone about science.

SPECIFIC TASKS

• To deliver hands-on workshops and interactive shows to the general public and to pre-booked groups.
• Work at Catalyst one weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) in three, although occasional cover may be required to cover special events and holidays.
• To work flexible hours where required, including some early starts for pre-booked groups.
• To professionally represent Catalyst and promote its aims and objectives at all times.
  
  

The successful candidate must have

• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• A passion for science
• The ability to work with people of all ages
• A confident and fun personality with bags of energy
• The ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Full training will be given. The position would suit a Further Education or University student – especially if considering a career in teaching.
