The newly established Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities, at the University of Oxford, is currently advertising for a Public Engagement Officer to establish and run a vibrant and cutting-edge public engagement programme.

Grade 7: £31,604 - £38,833 p.a.
The post is full-time (part-time considered, at least 60%FTE) and fixed-term for 3 years (in the first instance).

Based within the Nuffield Department of Population Health, the Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities is a collaboration between the Ethox Centre; the Oxford Neuroscience, Ethics and Society Group; the Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics; and the Wellcome Unit for History of Medicine. The Centre will conduct research on and promote inclusive public engagement with the ethical and social challenges presented by advances in neuroscience, big data, genomics, and global connectedness.
The Centre will establish a vibrant and cutting-edge programme of public engagement activities relating to these issues. The Public Engagement Officer will be responsible for shaping, monitoring and evaluating this programme. They will be responsible for inspiring, training and facilitating the Centre’s researchers and support staff to reach out to key audiences, as we seek to inform them about our work, consult with them over its direction and collaborate with them on exciting new research. The Public Engagement Officer will be supported in this role by a group of enthusiastic researchers who are currently engaging with the public, together with public engagement professionals within the Medical Sciences Division and the wider University.
