As Media Evidence Lead, you will play a critical role in Macmillan’s award-winning PR activity, helping to identify strong media material from a variety of evidence sources. The ability to interpret complex data and turn it into compelling stories is essential. In addition to strong communication skills, you must be able to work well with different directorates, balancing other teams’ priorities and levels of knowledge.
All of Macmillan’s PR work is based on sound evidence and insight, so your expertise in identifying and interpreting data and research will be key in helping the PR team create strong, robust stories. The work you will support will range from raising awareness of the issues affecting cancer patients, to influencing the government around our policy calls, to promoting the fundraising activities that keep Macmillan going as an organisation.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in science communications, with a strong understanding of the media agenda and what journalists want. You will need to have solid writing skills, a keen eye for good news story, and a robust understanding of how to interpret a range of research outputs.
