In July, Kristina Svensson visited Sweden's new visitor attraction, a mixture of
aquarium, greenhouse and science centre.
Universeum in short:
Primary target group 5 to 19 years old
Total exhibition area 5 500 square meters (of which 2 000 with hands-on experiments, total area of building is 10 000 square meters)
Initial funding ca £ 25 million (SEK 364 million)
Predicted visitor number 6000000 per year
Income will be generated from ticket sales, retail sales from
the shop and special events.
46 full time employees & 80 front of house staff during summer and holidays
Entrance fee ca £7,50 (SEK 110) children under 6 free of charge
Universeum is situated in Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast
