Canadian Director for Eureka!

Leigh-Anne Stradeski has been appointed as Director of Eureka. The Trustees of the Children's Museum in Halifax announced that Leigh-Anne, formerly of the Children's Museum in London, Ontario, will take up her post on April 17th.

During her five-year tenure as Director, the London Children's Museum has undergone a major regeneration, including the opening of five new galleries (from a total of ten). It has also seen community involvement through membership and sponsorship more than double, increased attendances and the introduction of a completely new curriculum-based set of school programmes.

In announcing the appointment, Vivian Duffield, Chairman of the Board of Trustees stated that "Leigh-Anne has done a wonderful job in developing her Museum in Canada and has the perfect skills and experience for taking Eureka! forward into a new millennium. The appointment comes at an exciting time, with new building developments on the Eureka! site and many smaller children's museum initiatives gathering pace under the auspices of the Kids Club Network 'Centres for Curiosity and Imagination' project".

Leigh-Anne is keen to take on the challenge of leading Eureka! into an exciting phase of development. "I am thrilled to take on the post of Director at Eureka!," Leigh-Anne says, "It's a wonderful facility, full of life and energy. It has a track record of success in informal, hands-on learning and I see tremendous potential for growth."

Vivian Duffield also announced that the Board of Eureka! is currently seeking new Trustees to support Leigh-Anne in implementing a new and creative development strategy for the Museum.
