The Maryland Institute College of Art located in Baltimore, MD USA invites applications for a full-time faculty position with a multi-year renewable contract in a non-tenure institution. Begins: Fall 2009. The college seeks an interaction designer who will bring strong visual and critical abilities to a growing and dynamic Interactive Media department. The program emphasizes interaction design for all screens; ubiquitous computing; and encourages students to explore ideas across the disciplines of art and design. The selected candidate will teach 6 courses per year and participate actively in institutional governance; departmental operations, including registration, advising, and departmental activities.
Qualifications: Masters degree; minimum 3 years college level teaching beyond assistantships or equivalent professional experience; outstanding portfolio of professional work; expertise with interface and user experience design.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and college policy; excellent benefits package.

INTERACTIVE DESIGN ENGINEER
Paragon Creative Ltd is a unique company providing creative design and build services to the architectural, heritage, museum, retail, advertising and entertainment sectors.
We are looking for an Interactive Design Engineer to join our busy and expanding Interactive Department.
We design and build one-off and low run electro-mechanical Interactive displays for the Museum, Visitor Centre and Retail sectors. These displays must be visually and practically engaging, safe and durable, require minimum maintenance and be able to withstand the rigors of everyday use by the public.
The successful candidate must be educated to degree level or equivalent and have a proven, practical record, working on project driven assemblies and mechanisms within an electro-mechanical field. This should ideally relate to the design and production of one-off or low run mechanical movement and transfer, process control, PIC programming and electronic circuitry. A good knowledge of AutoCAD and CAD based processes is essential, as is a good knowledge of current engineering materials and electro-mechanical components.
Practical experience of engineering based machinery is highly desirable, including the use of lathes, milling machines and welding equipment.
The ideal candidate will have experience of designing, prototyping and building bespoke interactives. Excellent communication skills and a creative and innovative approach are essential.
Work entails manufacture in York and installation of completed works on site in the UK and abroad.
Remuneration and contract and will be negotiable and commensurate with the above responsibilities.
