Working in University Outreach: How to Train Researchers

What is it about?

Do you work in a university supporting public engagement and outreach in STEM subjects? Have you been asked to develop and deliver training sessions for researchers? If yes, then this BIG Skills Day is for you! In this highly practical day we’ll share our experiences of running workshops for researchers.

We’ll talk about the Who, What, Where, When and How of training academics at various career stages. We’ll share good practise, learn from other people’s mistakes and develop a toolkit of example activities to use in your own training. Bring along your own experiences to share and any challenges you’re encountering too.

Venue: Great North Museum: Hancock, Barras Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 4PT

When: Tuesday 24th November 2015, 9.30am – 4.30pm

Organisers/Speakers:

Helen Featherstone, Head of Public Engagement, University of Bath

Cathy Southworth, University of Edinburgh

Lucy Moorcraft, Newcastle University

Cost for BIG members to attend:

£45 per person which includes all refreshments and lunch during the day.

Non-members will need to join BIG first to participate, at a cost of £30 for annual membership.
